If you've been following mainstream DiD happenings for a while, there's a very good chance you don't need us to tell you about След (which is romanized as Sled and usually translated as Trace). As the 900-pound gorilla (or 408-kilogram if you prefer) of Russian procedural dramas, shooting up to six episodes at a time, it's amassed over 2500 episodes during its 13-year run...and a sizable stack of solid DiD scenes.
For the uninitiated: the show follows the exploits of the FES, or Federal Expert Service, which more than a few Russian citizens apparently have come to believe is an actual thing. (We can sympathize: more than a few of our own citizens believe in some guy calls himself "Q.") Each week they track down the perpetrators of the most heinous crimes and magically convince them to confess. Along the way, dozens upon dozens of damsels get gagged (usually with duct tape) and tied up.
We approve of all of this, and we also think it's past time for a proper retrospective. So we're gonna post one.
Over the next few months—yes, it really will take that long—we'll be adding new clips from the show to the beginning of this playlist every day. They'll scroll off the bottom after a while, but subscribers can always find the full collection on the series page. (That includes a few older clips that have been up since we launched, which eventually will be getting resolution upgrades as needed.)
We should probably mention a couple more things. First, due to the subject matter of the show, viewer discretion is advised. Not all endings here are happy, and some scenes are fairly violent, though we've chosen to omit outright gore. Second, close observers will notice that these clips typically don't include actress credits, due to the relative difficulty of tracking them down reliably. Someday, hopefully!
Want to see the full episodes? You're in luck: while they don't include subtitles for non-Russian-speaking viewers, the ТелеРОМАН (TeleROMAN) YouTube channel has made almost every one available worldwide in HD. We don't advise you to watch them all in one sitting.
Update: Our friend Pixy recently pointed out that the Ukrainian network STB has launched its own remake of the show. We don't want to interrupt the main event, nor do we want to use more than half of our update slots on a single feature...but that still leaves room for us to toss in a scene from the Ukranian version now and then. You'll see them listed below as "Sled (2020)."
