"Well, it's about time!" If that were your reaction to our recent extended edit of Victoria Abril's tape gag scenes in Átame! aka Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, the 1989 Spanish comedy-drama by Pedro Almodóvar, we couldn't say we blame you.
There are movies that are a beast to edit, especially with our self-imposed runtime limits for how much we can show you under fair use, and this is one of them. It's enough of a classic that at least three different members of our community all independently decided to take a crack at it within a couple months of each other, 33 years later.
Of course, the movie has its critics. We should acknowledge that the bondage itself is relatively (a)tame, and you'll have to decide for yourself how you feel about its particular take on Stockholm Syndrome. (We're still not sure we're buying it!) But it's still got a lot going for it, and we hope you'll enjoy our three-part edit, which comes complete with soft subtitles.
And for those who just can't get enough of Victoria Abril, we're also including a two-part upgrade of her handgag and tape gag scenes from Barrios altos aka Uptown (1987), courtesy of Secret Tunnel Media. Nudie alert!
