Exactly sixty years ago this past January 7, The Avengers launched on British television and soon became a cult classic. Along the way, it introduced a series of female partners to Patrick Macnee's John Steed: Honor Blackman as Cathy Gale, Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, and Linda Thorson as Tara King. They were some of the most formidable, iconic heroines seen on television to date—and fortunately for us, they also managed to get tied up. A lot.

With the show's anniversary, the passing of both Ms. Blackman and Ms. Rigg last year, and the recent HD releases of the show's later seasons (which were shot on 35mm as opposed to video), we could think of no better time to offer a tribute in the form of brand new 1080p edits for some of the show's most memorable DiD scenes.
